Digital Photo Workshop at Environmental Education Center

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP AT

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER

BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center will present “Summer Shots!,” a day-long digital photography workshop on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. The hands-on workshop will take place at the Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

 

In celebration of the beginning of summer, participants will work with expert photographers from the Camera Naturalist Photography Club to learn how to shoot nature's most stunning wildlife and landscape images. 

The day will include a morning field workshop followed by an afternoon computer session. Participants are required to bring their own digital camera. Computer and card reader will be provided.

Fee for the program is $45 per person. Pre-registration is required and may be accomplished online at www.somersetcountypark.org or by calling the Environmental Education Center at 908-766- 2489. Individuals with a hearing or speech  impairment may call NJ Relay at 711.

 

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center is nestled within 450 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. The facility is situated within a variety of habitats of floodplains, swamps, rivers, intermittent streams, marshes, meadows, and natural and man-made ponds, fields, and forests provide homes for diverse plant and animal populations. All points of interest are within walking distances of the multi-faceted building. A swamp vivarium and an environmentally based library are located within the Center itself. The Exhibit Hall annually hosts environmentally focused presentations that are free to the public.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One - Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater.  The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
