Morris Habitat for Humanity is working with other local organizations to help those in need after the recent storms.  Stories of tragedies and losses from Hurricane Sandy and the subsequent Nor’easter will be heard for years to come, even from those who thought they were well prepared for any type of disaster.  Neighborhood by neighborhood, town by town and throughout the region people are coming together to lend a hand.  Morris Habitat has developed a Quick Response Program to help during this difficult time.

Morris Habitat has reached out to American Red Cross, the United Way of Northern New Jersey, the Salvation Army and the Interfaith Food Pantry to coordinate efforts and become a drop off point for in-kind donations that will be brought to individuals and families both in and around Morris County, as well as across the State and into New York.  Some of the items being collected are nonperishable food items, canned soups, baby items (no formula), personal hygiene items, new clothing such as coats, gloves and sweaters and blankets. Donations can be brought to the Morris Habitat Office at274 South Salem Street in Randolph (just off Route 10 across from the Kmart Plaza).  The office entrance is located on the right end of the building.  The ReStore is located in the front of the building. The ReStore is open Wednesday-Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-5, and Sunday 10-5.

Morris Habitat has always been a beacon of hope for families looking to get a hand up to homeownership and out of inadequate housing.  However, now more than ever, our most vulnerable citizens are looking for help.  Through our Reconstruction Program, Morris Habitat has helped dozens of the area’s lower income homeowners including seniors, veterans, disabled and others in desperate need of home repairs---so they too, can live in safe and decent homes. 

For local families recovering from the storm damage, Morris Habitat ReStore, is an excellent resource for much needed building supplies and materials as well as gently used furniture and appliances at incredibly low prices.  For families looking at huge reparation costs, the store offers great bargains on a large variety of items from paint to windows and more.

Many local charitable organizations in and around Morris County are coming together to work united to help their communities recover.  Morris Habitat is no exception, working with our Habitat affiliates and other charities around New York and New Jersey to offer volunteers, materials and other critical services and resources to support each other through this critical time.
