Nominate Your Volunteers For Award

Nominations Sought for the 2012 Millicent Fenwick Civic Award

The Somerset Hills YMCA invites volunteer organizations in the community to recognize their own outstanding volunteers, as well as submit a nomination for the 2012 Millicent Fenwick Civic Award. This award honors a citizen or organization in the Somerset Hills area for service to local, national or worldwide communities. The award will be presented at the Y’s Volunteer Recognition Night at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge on Thursday, November 15, 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. Nominations must be received by October 8th.

The award is named the Millicent Fenwick Civic Award because Mrs. Fenwick, American fashion writer, politician, diplomat and Bernardsville resident, was its first recipient and best represents the service that the award recognizes, which is ‘appreciation of meritorious leadership and service representing the highest ideals of the YMCA.’ Award criteria focus on a volunteer who gives meaningful service to the local, national and world communities; who demonstrates extraordinary leadership; who exemplifies caring, honesty, respect and responsibility; and, who has been committed to her/his volunteer efforts for a significant length of time.

To recognize a volunteer for your organization and/or to learn more about this award and the event, please contact Sylvia Velez, Director of Volunteer Services, at svelez@somersethillsymca.org or 908-766-7898 x530.
