89 Naked People ... Stay Naked (But Head To Pool in Hopes of Setting World Record)

The Guinness World Record Skinny Dip 2010 occurred on Saturday, July 10; Sky Farm Nudist Club was a registered skinny dip location for the American Association of Nude Recreation.

Skinny dipping can be an adventurous and fun summer activity. But if you are a member of Basking Ridge's exclusive Sky Farm Nudist Club, skinny dipping is, well ... just swimming.

On Saturday, though, Sky Farm tried to take skinny dipping to a new level by participating in the American Association for Nudist Recreation's World Record Skinny Dip. The AANR first established the nation-wide skinny dip last summer, where a record 13,648 participants went skinny dipping at one time.

AANR asks participating nudist colonies to promote the event and encourage their members and guests to join in by going into a body of water at a specific time on a specific date.

This year that date was July 10, and the time was 3 p.m. EST (which would mean participants in California dipped at noon).

Everyone who entered the pool at that time had to sign a participant log, according to Cindy Thiboutot, affiliate of the membership committee and local representative for AANR.

"Once everyone signs the participant log they jump into the pool for an official photo," Thiboutot said. The picture and the participant log are then submitted to AANR for proof of numbers and then sent to Guinness World Records for calculation.

Last year, Sky Farm had 131 participants in the nationwide skinny dip, 42 more people than this year's 89 entrants. The reason less people came out this year was the rainy weather, membership chair Kathy Gourley said.

Though Sky Farm didn't break it's own personal record, does not mean the nation did not set a new one. The official results from the Guiness World Record people will not be in for a few weeks, however, as calculation of a nation-wide event such as this takes some time.

"Sky Farm's current membership is at 251 and their members range from 6 months old to 90 years old," Gourley said. Their members come from all over the tri-state area and are able to utilize the facilities from April until the end of September.

Not all nudist camps can become a part of the American Association for Nudist Recreation.

"The camps have to meet certain standards of behavior," Thiboutot said. Therefore, nudist camps that have swingers policies are not allowed to join AANR.

Gourley said Sky Farm promotes family nudity. And she said she is incredibly pleased that the World Record Skinny Dip is a way for nudist camps to make a statement.
