Bradley Wachenfeld, January 2012

Bradley Wachenfeld, this year's Ridge High School swim team captain, has the future in his eyes. Focused on the Somerset County championships (February 4th at Montgomery) and Meet of Champions, Bradley is training for his final opportunity to make his high school mark.

The Ridge senior said he is headed to the Wharton Business School and the University of Pennsylvania in the fall. Wachenfeld, who said he will continue to swim beyond high school, then will have his opportunity to make his mark on a collegiate stage.

Wachenfeld has been swimming competitively since he was 5 years old, and he joined the Pleasant Valley Pool team, the Piranhas.

Primarily a distance swimmer, Wachenfeld set Skylands Conference records in freestyle in the 200 meter (1:41.71) and 500 meter (4:32.13) this season.

It was also a good year for Wachenfeld last year, when both he and his older sister, Amanda, garnered each garnered a county title in swimming.

Although it's been a fairly tough season for the Ridge boys swim team (2-5), Wachenfeld and his teammates have continued working to develop their personal times.
