Banish Cabin Fever With Some Fun Activities With Kids

No matter what your child's (or your) interests, there's something for everyone this week.

 

Each week, Patch looks for some activities for you to do with kids, to get you out of the house or just be able to enjoy each other's company.

This week's selection includes events that are both fun and informative, and include arts and outdoors activities. 

Paws for Reading
Where/When: Saturday, March 27 from 2 p.m to 3 p.m. at the Bernards Township Library.
Why Go:  Sign up for the opportunity to read your favorite story to a very special friend, a therapy dog from St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center.
Pricing: Free.

Paper Making
Where/When: Saturday, March 26 at the Lord Stirling Park Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge at 10:30 a.m.
Why Go: Attendees will learn the how to make paper out of recycled materials.
Pricing: $12 per person.

Drop in and Make a Craft
Where/When: Saturday, March 26 at the Bernards Township Library from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Why Go: You can create a craft and enjoy time with library friends.
Pricing: Free.

Spring Fever Hay Ride
Where/When: Saturday, March 26 at the Lord Stirling Riding Stable in Basking Ridge at 6 p.m.
Why Go: It's a hayride that stops for hot chocolate and s'mores. Do you need another reason why?
Pricing: $10 per person.

Kids in The Kitchen
Where/When: Saturday, March 26 at the Wegmans in Bridgewater.  There will be two opportunities to participate: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or noon to 1 p.m.
Why Go: Fun with Focaccia! Herbed Focaccia Bread and Veggie Salad will be made. A hidden dose of nutrition is also on the menu.
Pricing: $5 per child and parent combo, with a Shopper Plus Card. It's $10 without the card.

Blue Bird Walk or Tumbling Timberdoodles
Where/When: Sunday, March 27  at the Lord Stirling Park Environmental Education Center. The Blue Bird Walk will begin at 1 p.m.  Search for the American woodcock with Tumbling Timberdoodles at 4:30 p.m.
Why Go: You can enjoy the spring air while seeking the bluebird on its spring migration or choose to search for a timberdoodle. You can always do both programs and know who has arrived for the new season.
Pricing:  $12 per person.

Cinderella
Where/When: Saturday, March 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bridgewater Township Library.
Why Go: Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo! You'll join Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother for sing-a-long songs and smiles.
Pricing: Free

Clue Seekers
Where/When:  Friday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Warren Township Library.
Why Go: A bilingual musical adventure of hide and seek will entertain and teach children ages 2-and-one-half- to 4 years old. 
Pricing: Free

Thoroughly Modern Millie
Where/When: March 24 and 25 at  Warren Middle School at 7 p.m.
Why Go: A modern musical with fun, music, and tap dancing performed by the talents of Warren's finest middle-schoolers.
Pricing: $8 per ticket

Harmony Mad Marchness
Where/When:  Saturday, March 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mt. HorebSchool in Warren.
Why Go: You'll learn about a great summer camp while learning basketball skills from former professional basketball player Bas de Voogd.
Pricing: Free

Special Music Class for Special Children

Where/When: Saturday, March 26 at 2 p.m. at the Warren Township Library.
Why Go: Special-needs children and their families will enjoy a safe haven of accepting and stimulating music.
Pricing: Free

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Where/When: March 25 through 27 at the Somerset Valley Playhouse inHillsborough.
Why Go: This high-spirited musical rocks the stage.
Pricing: $20 per adult, $18 per senior or student.
