Dr. Fred Rossi, a Basking Ridge resident who is a chiropractor for all ages with offices in in Stirling and Phillipsburg left for London on Sunday to join the U.S. men's freestyle wrestling team to help keep them in top shape as they compete.
Before he left for England, Rossi told the Basking Ridge Patch that he's looking forward to the Olympic games as an opportunity to work with the world's top athletes. He said he is anticipating the "experience of a lifetime."
In his blog on Monday, Rossi explained how he came to be part of the team that is supporting the men's wrestling team. He said he is a Maximized Living trained chiropractor, certified in advanced spinal correction and nutrition, through the Wellness Advisory Sports Council.
Rossi said he will be staying with the USA men's freestyle team at East London University during the Olympics to support the wrestlers by adjusting their spines regularly and making sure they are practicing the five essentials to health leading up to competition, which also includes such habits as good nutrition.
He said after his office became a Maximized Living office approximately four and half years ago, hereceived certification through the Wellness Advisory Council to adjust and care for athletes in the field. "Once certified I started covering local and national tournaments for mainly USA Judo and Wrestling," he wrote. He said he would evaluate the athletes' postures and perform an adjustment based on that evaluation.
"As the years passed, I started working more and more with USA wrestling and now focus primarily on that relationship," he said. He said previously he works with wrestlers at Watchung Hills Regional High School — and patients in his office ranging from new babies to age 92.
Rossi is a chiropractor at Rossi Family Chiropractic on Valley Road, as well as his office in Phillipsburg. He also is an owner of a health club, Club Metro USA in Phillipsburg.
Rossi said he grew up in the Millington section of Long Hill Township, although he said he now lives in Basking Ridge with his wife, Tracey, and children Caia and Nicolas.
