Basking Ridge Man Accused of Lifting $300 Speakers from Apple Store

The following report was obtained from the Bridgewater Township police and does not indicate a conviction.

 

A Basking Ridge resident was charged with shoplifting after he was allegedly found with items from the Apple Store at the Bridgewater Commons Mall last week, Bridgewater Township police said.

Dean Langas, 21, was arrested after allegedly being found with a wireless speaker, valued at $299.95, on July 5 shortly before 1 p.m., according to the police report.

Langas was processed and released, said Bridgewater Township Police.

Lord & Taylor, Macy's also reported shoplifting incidents at the Bridgewater Commons Mall, police said.

Miquel Chavez, 23, of North Plainfield, was charged with shoplifting after he allegedly was found with $274 worth of merchandise from Lord & Taylor at 1 p.m. July 4. Police said Chavez was found with three shirts and a watch. He was processed and released.

A Brick resident was charged with shoplifting July 5 after she allegedly was found with merchandise from Macy's, according to township police. Kristiann Powers, 18, was arrested at 4:49 p.m. after allegedly being found with $108.47 worth of merchandise.

A Bridgewater man was arrested for theft at the Fit Zone after he allegedly stole money from another patron's wallet at Fit Zone in the Somerset Shopping Center at 3:16 p.m. July 5.

Thomas Banafato, 22, was charged in the incident in which police said he removed $85 from the wallet. He, too, was was processed and released.

Finally, police are investigating a report that someone removed a pair of jeans, valued at $328, from True Religion Store at around 12:27 p.m. July 7.
