Basking Ridge's Kaleidoscope Offers Services For Matheny Prom

Shop helps Matheny students get ready to celebrate a rite of spring.

As it had for the past several years, Kaleidoscope Hair & Body Artistry in Basking Ridge donated hair and beauty services to Matheny Medical and Educational Center's students and adult patients as they prepared for Matheny's annual prom in May.

This year, Kaleidoscope brought something extra — a check for $361, raised during two small fundraisers held in connection with the salon’s recent expansion, according to Matheny. Steve Proctor, Matheny president, stepped into the midst of the beauty activity to accept the unexpected gift on the May afternoon.

The Matheny Prom at the Skylands in Randolph. The event is always a special occasion for the students and residents at Matheny, located in Peapack-Gladstone, a center that serves patients with major developmental disabilities.

Several members of the Junior Friends of Matheny also attended the event as volunteers, including many Bernards High School students.
