Bernards Juveniles Accused of Egg-Throwing
Parents spoken to about alleged incident in neighborhood off Stonehouse Road.
The complaint that some juveniles had been seen throwing eggs at a home on Deer Creek Drive in Basking Ridge brought Township Patrol Officer Dan Snyder to the neighborhood last Saturday, police reported.
Then, while he was resonding to the complaint of criminal mischief, the officer reportedly observed two juveniles who were running away from the area of home where the owner had called police, according to the police report.
Snyder eventually tracked down one of the juveniles hiding on the bank of a retention pond in the immediate area, the police report said.
The juvenile told Snyder that he had run and hid near the retention pond because one of his friends, another juvenile, had told him to do so, the police report said.
Snyder transported the juvenile back to his home and spoke to the child's parents, police said. A group of five other juveniles also were at the residence, and Snyder made observations that indicated that the group allegedly may have been involved in the criminal mischief that had been reported, the police report said.
The incident will be forwarded to the school district's Resource Officer for follow up, the police report said.
