Bernards Planning Board, Learn About Ovarian Cancer In Week Ahead
As Basking Ridge "turns the town teal" with ribbons, information session scheduled about ovarian cancer.
The Bernards Township Planning Board meets again at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and here's the big news: neither the Millington Quarry's post-closure plan nor the proposed mosque in Liberty Corner are on the agenda.
Of course, the quarry issue is due back before board on Oct. 2, and a continuation of hearings on a proposed mosque in Liberty Corner was — at the last meeting — is scheduled to be continued on Oct. 16.
But for this week, the planners would seem to have a quieter evening scheduled, including a public hearing on Ecological Solutions for Mine Brook Road, LLC.
In other events planned for this week:
- The Bernards Township Health Department, which serves multiple communities, has scheduled an learning session on ovarian cancer, including information on ways to recognize the subtle signs of this female cancer, in conjunction with an expert from Memorial Sloan-Kettering in Basking Ridge. The evening begins with a light lunch at 6:30 p.m. and the session at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Bernards Township municipal building at 1 Collyer Lane, Basking Ridge.
- With hurricane and snow seasons ahead, the Bernards Township Local Emergency and Flood Mitigation Committee is planning to meet at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at town hall. CANCELED DUE TO SCHEDULING CONFLICT.
- And for those who are willing to drive, or tag along with someone, all the way to Linden High School it could be another exciting evening on Friday for the Ridge High School Red Devils football team, which already has two wins under their green jerseys this season. The latest win, last Friday, was against rival Immaculata High School, and will be televised on Monday at 4 p.m. on Cablevision's channel 14. The game against Linden is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday.
