Bernards Schools Closed for Rest of Week

Intention is to reopen on delayed opening schedule on Monday.

Bernards Township Schools will be closed for the remainder of the week, school officials announced on Tuesday afternoon, noting that power outages continue at four schools and many township homes.

"Additionally downed trees, wires and utility poles continue to cause significant road closures and hazardous conditions for pedestrians and vehicles," said the school website, which is posting only essential information on its homepage.

"Many residents still do not have power. Complicating matters there is another storm forecast for Wednesday and Thursday," the website said.

As a result, all Bernards Township schools will be closed for the remainder of the week, with the intention of reopening schools on Monday, Nov. 12 on a two-hour delay assuming that all schools are ready.

If one or more schools are not ready for Monday, special schedules to get all students to school for at least part of the day on Monday will be posted on the the district website. If these special schedules are needed, an instant alert message will be issued by Saturday evening, the website said. Parents should refer to detailed information posted on both the Bernards Township School District and Township of Bernards websites.

I can't agree more with you! Website states work being done on the following roads by JCP&L which included Somerville Road! Well I was out today walking somerville road and there was not one electric truck, tree truck and any other kind of work vechicle! God Help us all if there is a emergency either health issue or fire, because Liberty Corner Fire and Ambulance department will not get thru! Some from this town should be out driving around to check on this "list of roads" that is being handed out by the power company! Does anyone check on them, and where they say they are! I for one think NOT!
