Cops: $5,800 in Sterling Silver Stolen From Home
Police investigating report of weekend burglary on Governor Drive.
Bernards Township Police are investigating a report of a break-in and theft that took place sometime between last Friday and Sunday at a township home on Governor Drive.
The incident was discovered on Sunday by a family member and reported to police on that day, township police said.
The home showed signs of being entered through a back window, said Police Lt. Michael Voorhees.
He said thieves allegedly stole about $5,800 worth of sterling silver, and a class ring valued at $200.
Voorhees said police aren't linking last weekend's reported break in and theft to number of other burglaries this spring that took place when homes in the township — and other nearby communities — apparently were burglarized while the occupants were away.
"We think this one is a little different from the others," he said. For one thing, the home was occupied over the weekend, but the break-in may not have been noticed at first, he said.
