Broken Water Main at Oak Street Likely Due to Age
Main caused Oak Street Elementary school to be closed on Wednesday.
Mid-day on Wednesday, a private contractor was digging deep into a trench along West Oak Street by the entrance off that road to the Oak Street Elementary School, where a water main break had closed school on Wednesday. According to the Bernards Township Board of Education office, the break appeared to have occurred some time the night before.

As best as school officials can tell, the break in a water main on West Oak Street that was responsible for the Oak Street Elementary School's closure on Wednesday was due to age, according to the Board of Education office.
The school district had insurance to cover the cost of the repair, School Business Administrator Rod McLaughlin said on Friday.
The Oak Street School school reopened on Thursday following repairs by a private contractor.
However, school children at Oak Street now have logged one emergency closing day that the rest of the school system hasn't.
