According to the PDF chart, Montclair will we restores by midnight on 11/3/2012. That seems very unlikely. I would love to see it happen, but judging from what I saw by driving around town today (which is 11/3/2012) it would take a miracle.

Wow ! Chatham Twp. says we'll all have power tomorrow. Yet the estimate says that only 5% will be restored tomorrow, and 8% by Monday. Seems about right. The Road Dept. is nowhere to be seen. But I did see them drinking coffee by Colony Pool. And the cops, yeah, I saw them move a branch out of the road Tuesday AM. And than they sped away in their new Charger wasting the taxpayers money. I also saw them speeding around Corpus Christi church acting like children in the same car a few weeks agio. Glad we can waste our hard-earned money on these idiots. And there new phone system with the county is confusing and useless. They are all clueless. And they couldn't care less about us. Oh, and BTW, they aren't going to pick up any of the debris you place near the street. Have you seen a barracade or an orange cone around any of the obstacles in the Township ? Every other town I've been through has the road dept. visible and there are cones and barracades everywhere.

I work in a skilled nursing facility in W.O. We've been taking in people through local emergency rooms who have been displaced due to power outages in their homes. If your grandmother is in an unsafe situation, you might want to check out a local hospital like St. Barnabas to see what can be done. I'm hearing that FEMA will cover the cost.

What a hopeless town, county and state we live in. After 6 days and thousands of workers, the trees and power lines are still on the streets. This in a country that is the wealthiest and wants to be a role model for the world. All Warren township officials starting from the mayor to the clerk are powerless and selfish, corrupt officials. I can understand 2-3 days is normal but 6 days is just unacceptable. From the PSEG workforce schedule, Warren is not on their ETR until 11/6. So it will be 10 days before warren residents see's power. Is this really acceptable? For a town, with one of the highest taxes, who is answerable? I think it starts with the mayor and township officials who didn't pressurize the government office and utility companies. They can't expect us to fight their battles !!! Very disappointed.

Please we here are nowhere as bad off as they are down South Jersey, Long Island and Staten Island. Sooner or later our power will be restored and our lives will go on thank god for that...I feel bad for the people who have no homes, food, water or power for god knows how long. All I can say is it could be worse, we still have our homes and we are alive. My prayers are with all the families who lost everything. I do agree our DPW should be out there clearing the roads a heck of alot better. Be safe everyone and I hope your power comes on soon.

I agree with you completely. I am not comparing the pain of ours against theirs. My issue is how elected officials are performing in these situations and I blame Bloomberg more than anyone who was thinking about a Marathon over helping people in staten island. We just need to be wise when electing officials to represent us.

It's a given that no matter what one is going through that someone else, somewhere has it worse. Should the recently homeless people in South Jersey be praising the skies that they're not living in war-torn Afghanistan? It's important to let people express their own frustrations about their own particular circumstances.

PSE&G has released contradictory information, and since it's only an hour or so before midnight and no power yet, it seems like another PSE&G Workforce Schedule is more accurate (and less optimistic) than the one cited above. If you go to the nj.gov website and click on the Hurricane Sandy Information Center, then follow the PSEG link, you find what may be a more recent PSEG Workforce Schedule (also dated 11/3) that shows about 20% of the town facing outages on 11/4 and 11/5, and an only incrementally reduced number of outages on 11/6. See http://nj.gov/nj/home/features/spotlight/20121103-05-2_PSEG.pdf.

Where did all the utility trucks that were in Chatham Borough go yesterday? They were staged and working out of the train station parking lot, and then yesterday... Poof! All gone and no progress made at all. There was a wire that popped and sparked for 90 minutes by Wells Fargo bank yesterday. When it stopped, an adjacent wire smoked excessively before bursting into flames and burning the entire length from pole to pole. Not a good situation when there are ZERO crews in town.

Update from PSE&G as of this morning: the "x" on the chart does not mean that 100%!of the customers in the referenced area will have power by the indicated date. Rather, according to PSE&G:
"In response to a request from the Governor's office, PSE&G released a list today of where it will focus resources in the next three days. The list reflects our most current plans, prioritizing repairs to equipment that can get the largest number of customers restored first. While the boxes marked with an "x" indicate that there will be significant activity and progress made in specific towns, it does not guarantee that every customer's service will be restored. It should be regarded as a guide. This storm event and our work to assess, repair and restore power is a fluid situation. Plans may change and resources may be redirected given unexpected damage and conditions. "

My neighborhood seems always to be one of the very last to have power restored, when events such as Sandy, and last year's October ice storm, cut off our electricity. We have been without power, on average, several times over the past ten years. While I know someone must always be last in line, I still find it frustrating that, even though a fourth grader with only average intelligence could predict what will happen, the repair crews will put the reattached wires right back up, in exactly the same places they were before -- because, surely, there will never be another punishing ice storm, nor any reason for another massive tree branch ever to fall again in South Orange, right?

Parsippany still has less than 50% of its residents back on Power. I have been tracking estimates given by JCPL for Parsippany and they have only put 1/2 of their estimates online as of yesterday. People. you need to call JCP&L and file an outage - I did, regarding the lines down on King George Road, which, if repaired, would bring Spring Ridge, and a whole boat load 'o people back up. The girl said, "Oh? I'll put in a work order." Stop gripe-posting and start making calls. 1-888-544-4877.
Then, make a call to NJ 12 - 732-346-3200, select Option # 1, and speak with the newsroom. Tell them what is oging on, tell them the same things you are posting here, that no one has been here, nothing has been done, no trucks have been by, and that it is the same story every time.

The PSEG table is useless! Today is November 4th, 6th days after the outage. We have been living in our house with no electricity, no heat for 6 straight days, with two little kids bundled up in their snowsuits and house temperature dropping to 40s. Yet PSEG posted the following for our town (Watchung boro in Somerset County):
Customer served: 2722
Customer out of power: 2019
There have been no movement since the outage started: no of customers restored onNov 3: 0. No of customers restored on nov 4: 0. Where is the "army" of technicians and PSEG crews as they say in their update email? They are literally leaving us out in the cold, incredible! It is very sad that there is so much anger over a storm that has affected everyone's lives in some way, & it seems much worse for those not writing on this blog as their computers or phones were swept away in the flood waters....I have heard from friends who have family in south jersey who are homeless & a few of them are trying to make their way up here to my home and to the homes of others who can offer shelter. There are shelters in every town if you look for them, where elderly & young children can be kept warm. If someone is sick, a hospital will provide shelter. I too am frustrated by the apparent lack of work being done on many of the roads closest to me in Mendham but I assume from seeing the destruction where entire poles are cracked in half w/ lines draped over treetops it will take some time. But each day I am seeing people I know get their power back. it is strange how it works...my brother lives in a neighborhood with 5 or 6 intertwining streets and all of them have power except his. Go figure. I have access to a gas generator which I use a few hours in the morning & a few hours at night since the gas is so scarce and I consider myself VERY lucky with only 2 trees down NOT on my house!..It is a very bad time for everyone...keep your chins up and remember FEMA is a federal program so much of this rests in the current president's hands. Not sure what he is doing about any of this...unfortunately does not seem to be enough. I hope this tells us all something too.

I informed JCPL the following Tuesday and have called them and all they say is by Nov 7 "most" customers should be restored. Unacceptible!!! Power was restored to buisessness on N. Beverwick last Thursday 11/1, Baldwin Plaza never lost power and Route 46 buisnesses all have their power back but what about the regular homes and people. Our complex and some homes on Vail Rd still no power. This is ridiculous. I just moved to Parsippany and never have I experienced this with PSE&G through any storm. All the people I know that have PSE&G have had power since last Thursday!!!! What is going on JCPL? JCPL needs to go! I guess I will get power back just in time for the new storm coming only to lose power again. Thank you JCPL!!!!

I called JCP&L because our neighborhood is always dead last to get power restored, we were the last block in Morris Township during Hurricane Irene. I heard a rumor that our sub-station was built too close to a river, and that is why we have issues restoring power. JCP&L said our neighborhood could petition to be moved to a different sub-station, if in fact it is true that our sub-station is compromised by proximity to water or for some other reason. They can look into it.
Our block is always last to get power.
I heard our sub-station was built too close to a river.
If that is in fact true, we could as a neighborhood ask to be moved.

You can wipe you know what with this timeline. PSE&G is so unorganized. All the help they have from other states and they still don't have people back. Can you tell me what high paid executive thought to build transfer stations in low line areas.

What about Green Brook? North of Rt 22? We have all the main access road up the mtn. Our mayor and township committee are totally useless. Never heard peep from any of them. Our whole neighborhood is totally dark with no hope for power.

This list is not really very helpful. knowing that they plan to have 80% of your town re-powered by a certain date doesn't tell you much. I liked the outage map approach that Patch took last time. At least then you could see the extent of the outages physically, and watch it change day by day. That was a volunteer effort wasn't it?

As far as I can remember, yes. If someone wanted to step up and do it again (hint, hint), we would not be opposed.

Do we have the kind of data we'd need to do it? A house by house or block by block table of outages?

Prentiss, I honestly have no idea. Kathy Shaskan took point on that when she was still Editor for Morris Township-Morris Plains Patch. But, she got sane and left last year. If you have her contact info, you could reach out.

Christie should resign. What is he doing except taking calls from Obama. He got his power back in Mendham yet there are 35% of the town still out. Don't ever vote for him again!!! Jcp&l claim they will have everyone restored by Sunday??? Yeah right, they initially claimed by Thursday. Who is holding them accountable??? Christie is to busy wasting doughnuts.

Why are we the public paying for JCP&L's mistakes? Check out the poles on Brooklyn Mt. Road in Hopatcong & on Lakeside Blvd. They have not kept up with the Mantianace and up grades and just keep adding wires from whoever and never up graded the sorce the Poles. Looks like most poles, if you leaned on them hard they would snap! Let alone 80 mph Winds. Stop taking the money out of the system and add some back for repairs. Antaquated systems can't be expected to work. of course now the Utilities can blame all there falts on the storm alone
