The Somerset County Consumer Protection Group and Records Management Group again is sponsoring municipal shred days, aimed at preventing identity theft from personal documents, and has set two dates for 2012 to serve all residents of the Somerset Hills. Shredding locations will be set up in Basking Ridge and Bedminster Township.
Shred Days will be held rain or shine. Residents from Bernards Township, Bernardsville, Bedminster Township, Far Hills and Peapack-Gladstone may bring personal documents to be shredded for free and one or both events.
An announcement from Bernards Township said Bedminster Township will sponsor the first shred day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, at the Bedminster Township Public Works Facility. The location is at 75 Miller Lane in Bedminster.
Bernards Township will sponsor the second shred day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. The shredding operation will be set up at the Bernards Township Engineering Services Building, 277 S. Maple Ave., Basking Ridge.
Documents will be commercially shredded safely, privately and properly by trained, licensed and bonded document-destruction specialists. Residents may bring documents in any type of container. Staples and paperclips do not have to be removed.
Papers will be dumped and the container will be returned to the resident. Participants may stay and watch the process if they wish.
