The all-volunteer organizations, which together cover the northern and southern ends of Bernards Township, are responsible for raising most of their funding.
In an effort to raise those necessary funds, Santa Claus, along with local firefighters, will be delivering holiday gifts via a fire engine. The event also raises funds for the first aid squads that work with both fire companies, said Jack McGrath, public information officer for Basking Ridge Fire Co.
For a $50 per family donation, the Basking Ridge Fire Co. or the Liberty Corner Fire Co. will transport Santa Claus to your home to deliver a holiday gift (which the donor supplies) to those children on the list.
This year, Santa will be making a special delivery throughout the township on Saturday, Dec. 22.
Those who are participating are asked to deliver a pre-wrapped gift for each child in the household who will in receive a gift, along with a $50 donation to the fire company that serves that area, according to Jack McGrath, public information officer for the Basking Ridge Fire Co.
Residents can identify their respective fire company by the Annual Fund Drive solicitation that each household receives in the mail each year.
Those protected by the Basking Ridge Fire Company No. 1 are asked to deliver gifts to that fire station at 30 Washington Ave. in Basking Ridge from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, or from 7 to 9 p.m. on the following Monday, Dec. 17.
Those protected by the Liberty Corner Fire Company are asked to bring gifts to that fire company station at 95 Church Street in Liberty Corner Village from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Dec. 16 or from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
Then on Saturday, Dec. 22, Santa Claus will make the rounds on a fire engine to
deliver the gifts.
