Although Ridge kept it close for most of the first half, Gill kept stacking up the points in the second and third quarters, to finally defeat Ridge, 73-56.

Playing in front of packed stands, Ridge was led by junior Kevin Doolan Doolan with 15 points, with good performances on the court from seniors Lane Legband (10 points) and Matt Gerrity (9 points).

Ridge fought hard throughout the game but it was Gill's seniors Jaren Sina (20 points) and Austin Colbert (15 points), along with freshman Tyus Battle (14 points) that combined efforts took Ridge out of the game. After wrapping up their careers at Gill, Sina will be headed to Northwestern University and Colbert to the University of Illinios in the fall.

Ridge next will face Hillsborough at 6 p.m. Saturday night, playing at Montgomery game, for a semifinal game in the Somerset County Tournament.

Gill St. Bernard's will try to break what is now the only remaining undefeated boys basketball team in N.J., Bound Brook, in the other semifinal of the SCT on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Montgomery.

If both Gill and Ridge win, the teams would meet for another face-off in the county final.
