Members of the Cub Scout troop Pack 54 of Liberty Corner showed up on Thursday night to march down Church Street for the annual Holiday Parade in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township. The event is co-sponsored by the Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Liberty Corner Fire Co. The Basking Ridge Fire Co., and first aid squad from both companies, also made the evening special.
It's the third year for Giuseppe Milelli, age 5, of Bernards Township, has come to watch the parade through Liberty Corner.

Young singers in angel outfits, Cub Scouts from Troop 54, and even some adults (including Santa) were among those who joined in Thursday night's annual Bernards Township Chamber Holiday Parade through Liberty Corner Village.

The parade stepped out at 7:30 p.m. from the flag pole at the intersection of Church Street and Valley Road. It proceeded down Church Street — past well-wishers lined up on sidewalks, with a few sitting on porches — to the Liberty Corner firehouse, where everyone was offered refreshments and a greeting from Santa.

The Cherub Choir from Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, with young singers from age two to 11, led the procession. They were followed by local scouts, fire companies and rescue squads from both Liberty Corner and Basking Ridge, and representatives from Kearns & Duffy law firm.

The choir sang Christmas sons as they marched down the street.

Among those who were back for another year on the sidelines were Julie Milelli, from the Far Hills section of Bernards, along with her two sons.

Emily Connolly of the township was back for another year, but this year she brought a local friend, Cindy Sibilia, who said she had never been to the parade before.

"I think it's really quaint," Connolly said. The two said they had walked from their homes.

The annual event, founded by the Bernards Chamber about a decade ago, helps to share the spirit of the holidays, and draws attention to the Liberty Corner section of the township, said the chamber's executive director, Al LiCata.

Although this year's parade was small, LiCata said the event was a fun, relaxing way for the community to get together. Thursday night's relatively warm temperatures were better than the previous year's freezing weather, he remarked.
