L.A. Man Arrested for Alleged Marijuana Possession
Stop leads to multiple drug charges, motor vehicle violations.
Police said a motor vehicle stop of a Los Angeles man Saturday at the King George Road Exxon station resulted in multiple drug charges and motor vehicle violations.
Jonathan Siebels, 31, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in addition to owning an uninsured vehicle, having a suspended registration and having no registration or insurance card in his possession, according to police.
Police reported that Patrol Officer Slawomir Zolnierowski observed a 1999 Chevy minivan with California license plates pull into the Exxon at about 1:38 p.m. After running a check on the license plates, the officer was alerted of the suspended registration, police said.
Zolnierowski then pulled the minivan over after the vehicle had exited the Exxon station. Zolnierowski approached the vehicle and reportedly was told by Siebels, who was the front-seat passenger, that the vehicle belonged to him and that he had not had time to register the vehicle because he had only recently purchased the minivan in December, police said.
As Zolnierowski was speaking with Siebels, the officer allegedly detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed a metal marijuana pipe on the minivan's floorboard, according to police. Zolnierowski then said he asked Siebels if he had any marijuana. Siebels allegedly handed to Zolnierowski a plastic baggie containing marijuana, police reported.
The driver of the minivan, a 27-year-old male who also from California, was not arrested or charged with any offenses, police said.
Siebels' vehicle was towed and impounded, according to police. Siebels was arrested, transported to headquarters, processed and released on his own recognizance, police reported.
