Woman Stable After Airlifted From I-78 Wreck
Hunterdon County resident was trapped for more than three hours before extricated.
A 32-year-old Hunterdon County woman who was trapped inside her vehicle for hours after it rolled over on Interstate 78 was listed in stable condition on Wednesday.
Carly Johnstone, of Milford, was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center Tuesday night at about 6:40 p.m., after her vehicle crashed near mile-marker 34 of I-78 westbound more than three hours earlier, State Police said.
The Liberty Corner Fire Co. extricated Johnstone from the vehicle, according to Liberty Corner Chief Marc Friedman.
According to New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Adam Grossman, firefighters spent several hours working on getting her freed from the vehicle, during which time westbound lanes were closed, causing an 8-mile backup.
Grossman said the accident, which does not appear to have involved any other vehicles, remains under investigation.
