UPDATE: Power Could Take Weeks to Return, Officials Say
But workers have been seen getting started on the job.
With no change in the number of power outages throughout the Somerset Hills area, officials are not sure when the lights will be turned back on in each individual town.
Bruce McArthur, township administrator for Bernards Township, said Tuesday evening that there is currently no timeline known for when JCP&L will restore power to the area.
McArthur said he is supposed to speak with JCP&L officials Wednesday, but there is still no update on when residents can expect the power to come back.
JCP&L workers were seen starting to work on the lines at the Hills in Bedminster Wednesday morning.
Bernards Township committeeman John Malay said JCP&L officials are going to be working first on high transmission wires and substations that were damaged in the storm. From there, he said, they will activate circuits, first those that will take the least amount of time and affect the most customers.
"But it could be weeks in some situations," Malay said.
As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, most of the towns in the Somerset Hills area are still without power.
In Bedminster, 3,689 residences are without power, and in Bernardsville, there are 3,444 homes without power. In Bernards Township, there are 12,553 homes without power.

I have dear friends who live in this area and of course due to no power I am not able to get in touch with them. They live on 379 Lyons Road. I hope and pray they are safe.
You are all in our hearts, thoughts & prayers. Sandy

Have yet to see a utility truck anywhere in town. Has anyone heard anything about estimated power restoration in the Spring Ridge complex?

Ditto. I see no work being done in Basking Ridge.
They should prioritize getting gas stations back in service because our cars are the only warmth and phone recharging and access to food supplies . . . and possibility of escape we have from this mess.
Please report on any gas stations that are open in the area. The closest I know is way down on 22 and the next on 28, and both have lines maybe half a mile long or worse in waiting terms. Reporting where gas is available nearby will keep attention on it which might lead to solving that problem sooner.
BTW, Costco and Home Depot and I think Target in Bridgewater under 28 were open today. Pep Boys too but no emergency supplies like gas cans, etc. per sign on the door.
