It was a long process for the unions throughout the Northeast, including those representing thousands of wireline and communications employees iin New Jersey, to sign the final collective bargaining agreement to replace a contract that expired in August 2011, provoking a strike and demonstrations. The contract is finally put to bed, with terms made public.
Former Bernards Township Committeeman Ali Chaudry talked about what's likely to come up at the next public hearing on the proposed mosque for 124 Church St. in the Liberty Corner section, along with some of his own personal efforts to educate the public about moderate Islam.
The Ridge High School club, Ridge Empowerment for Political Participation, held a forum on Thursday night and invited the four candidates competing for two seats on the Township Committee, including Republican incumbents John Malay and Carolyn Gaziano, and Democratic challengers Michael Komondy and David Ferdinand. The annual Far Hills Race Meeting means lots of fun and feasting for about 40,000 spectators who enjoy partying and steeplechase horse racing — but each year's event is no picnic for area police departments. This past Saturday, the Ridge High School Marching Band continued its successful 2012 season when the band placed second in Group 3A at Saturday’s prestigious Yamaha Cup competition held annually at MetLife Stadium. The band also received caption awards for Best Visual Performance, Best Color Guard and Best Percussion. So far, the Marching Band has brought home brought one first-place finish and two second place finishes in its first three competitions this fall with its 2012 show, “The Mask of Zorro.”
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the third annual Ridge High School Marching Band Competition, scheduled this year for Saturday, Oct. 27, at Lee Field behind the high school.
