Power Restored for 600 in Downtown Basking Ridge
JCP&L estimated power outage, caused by broken pole, would be restored by 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Power was restored shortly before 11 a.m. for 601 JCP&L customers in downtown Basking Ridge and the surrounding area without power around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Bernards Township police confirmed. The cause had been identified as a broken pole top in the downtown, according to a spokeman for the company.
JCP&L Spokesman Mike Obremski had said earlier crews were en route to the scene to fix the problem.
"The crews should be there shortly," he said.
Obremski said the issue was caused by continuing problems surrounding the after-effects of Superstorm Sandy.
"The system is a little weakened," he said. "We are bringing in additional folks to work on the problems."
Obremski said power was estimated to be restored at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, but the power came back before that estimated time.
