Power Slowly Returning in The Hills
But most residents in Bedminster and Basking Ridge are still in the dark.
Despite thousands of people still being without power across the state, residents in the Somerset Hills are very slowly seeing it come back as the week continues.
Here are the numbers as they stand, according to the power companies:
- In Bedminster, 2,586 residences are without power, as opposed to the 3,689 that were without Wednesday
- Bernards Township has 11,561 without power, after having 12,553 without power on Wednesday.
- In Bernardsville, there are still 3,330 without power, as opposed to the 3,444 who were without power Wednesday.
These figures are all as of 1 p.m. Thursday.
Most of Bedminster's businesses also remain without power at this point, with the schools closed through the end of the week, and the municipal building remaining closed until further notice.
Somerset Hills schools have not yet released information about a closure on Friday.

Any word on when medical facilities such as Memorial Sloan Kettering in Basking Ridge will have their power restored? I'm sure there are many patients like me who are scheduled for chemotherapy and have had their appointments cancelled until power is back on or they can find another facility to take us in.

I visited the Bedminster Township website hoping to find some information about the progress being made with regarding to restoring our town to normalcy.
I was disappointed to see that the town website has not been updated in days with more current and usefull information about what is open and closed and information about what our town officials have been able to find out from JCP&L regarding. The status of and the progress made on restoring power. In times of emergency our town should have a greater presence and provide information to residents. Reading in the article above that the town offices are closed till further notice was disconcerting. CL

Not sure where they got there numbers, but they don't coinside with First Energy (Actually Last Energy if you leave in Bedminster, Bernards, Basking Ridge). First Energy is reporting 3198 in Bedminster NOT 2586!

I just posted on the Twp's FB page that it would be helpful if they had a Twitter account, like Bernards Twp and Bernardsville does. I was getting more information than them about what was going on than the Twp's website and the ineffectual flyer they taped on the mailbox bank yesterday, which said the same thing. There is absolutely no effort to communicate with the community on a 21st century level.

I'm over here in Ohio and I'm trying to figure out if my parents' house in Bedminster is okay. Everyone's phones are out and no one is updating any Bedminster websites... Disappointing...

Just heard there was a water main break in Bernard's Township and many without water now. Called water company and told they have a crew working on it. Lets hope so!
