When Ridge varsity boys soccer (6-6-2) came up against Hillsborough (9-2-1) on Thursday afternoon, the team was determined not to lose to the highly ranked vistors a second time this season.

They didn't. The Ridge boys held the game to a 1-1 tie, with the goal scored by senior Wade Hoffman on a 25-year strike.

Earlier in the season, Ridge had lost 2-0 to Hillsborough, ranked no. 9 in New Jersey by NJ.com.

Ridge was looking to get a win back, but had to settle for not giving up another loss. "They played really hard against the #9 team in the state and stayed with them for the whole game," said Ridge assist coach Enzo Minicozzi.

Next up — The team will face Watchung Hills on Saturday at 10 a.m. for quarter-final away game in Somerset County Tournament.
