The Ridge High School girls lacrosse team opened its 2011 season on a cool and windy Saturday morning in an away contest at Bridgewater-Raritan High School. The Red Devils fell to the Panthers, 17-10, in a game that was much closer on the field than reflected in the final score.

IN SHORT
Just 11 seconds in to the game, Kelly Scott of Ridge fired home a goal. It looked like Ridge would have the Lady Panthers on their heels, but the lead was short-lived. Bridgewater-Raritan came back and scored two quick goals. Ridge then countered with two goals of its own, putting the score at 3-2. The Panthers called a timeout and afterwards changed the complexion of the game. Coming out of the timeout, Bridgewater-Raritan scored two quick unassisted goals and led the rest of the time on the field.

THEY SAID IT
"I thought we played well today. I am very of proud of how the team played. We had a few breakdowns in the middle of the field and that impacted us. We are trying to work out some kinks all over the field. We are just taking it game by game and looking to get better as the season goes on."–Head coach Barbara Erickson
