Township police said a Basking Ridge resident reported that she and two other women apparently had their TEVA sandals stolen from the amphitheater at Pleasant Valley Park while attending a rehearsal for a township "Plays in the Park" production.

Police said the theft was believed to have occurred last Tuesday, July 12 ay about 8:30 p.m. The apparent theft of the three pairs of sandals was reported to police the following day, police said.

UPDATED: Township police reported that the apparently swiped sandals had not been recovered as of Monday, July 25.

Police said the sandals had been left in the backstage area of the amphitheater while the three women were attending the rehearsal. The township presented "Footloose" last Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

A possible witness, a male resident from Bernardsville, reportedly told Township Police Lt. Stephen Elder that he saw an individual near the amphitheatre during the rehearsal whom he described as looking "out of place," police said.

The witness described the individual as as a white male in his late 30s to early 40s, stocky build, bald or balding and wearing dark framed round eyeglasses, the police report said.

Detective Bureau personnel were assigned to the park during the following evening's rehearsal, but did not locate anyone fitting that description, police said The total value for the missing TEVA sandals is approximately $120, police said.

The female who reported the apparent theft was not able to provide any specific information about the two other missing pairs of sandals and owners, police said.
