Sign Up For Bernards Twp. Health Screenings

Registration begins April 16 to sign up for annual comprehensive health screenings offered through Bernards Twp. health department.

 

Residents of Bernards and member towns of the Bernards Township Health Department are asked to register beginning next Monday, April 16, to take part in the regional health department's annual comprehensive health screening at a reduced cost.

The health screening includes a blood test, urinalysis, stool blood test and blood pressure check. The purpose is to screen for conditions such as diabetes, gout, kidney disease, liver disease, cholesterol levels (HDL & LDL) and triglycerides, anemia, leukemia, severe infections, and hypertension, according to the health department.

The actual tests are being scheduled between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 3 and on Friday, May 4, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, at 184 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge.

Cost for residents in all member towns is $30 for the health screening, and $30 for a thyroid screening. The regional health department serves residents of Bernards Township, Bernardsville, Long Hill Township, Peapack and Gladstone Borough, Chester Borough and Mendham Borough and Township.

Residents of non-member towns can sign up at a cost of $40 per test.

Registration is also being taken at this time for a male cancer screening to be held on June 6.

In-person registration is required for these screenings to be offered by the health department. Registration may be made at the between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays at Bernards Township Health Department, 262 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, beginning next Monday.

Registration will continue until all scheduled appointments are full, or until the day before the screenings take place, said Cheryl Komline, public health nutritionist.
