Tobin Heath, U.S. Women Secure Olympic Quarters
Now 2-0 in Group G after easy win vs. Colombia.
The United States women's soccer team and Basking Ridge native Tobin Heath made it two straight wins to open up the 2012 London Olympics on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Colombia.
The team secured a tip to the quarterfinals with the victory.
U.S. goals were scored by Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd. Heath did not play in Saturday's contest after playing and drawing a foul in the team's 4-2 come-from-behind win against France on Wednesday. Basking Ridge fans have been excited about watching one of their own at the Games.
The squad plays its third game in Group G on Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. against North Korea. The game is not scheduled to be aired on NBC or NBC Sports Network.
