Fresh Restaurant at the Highlands Village Center in The Hills, open for about five years, has not been open since late 2012 although the space remains furnished. Negotiations reportedly are underway for a new restaurant to come into the location.
Fresh Restaurant at the Highlands Village Center in The Hills section of Basking Ridge, remains decorated, although pieces of equipment have been removed and the phone is shut off.

Two Basking Ridge restaurants, Fresh restaurant and Doon Indian Valley, have closed within the past few months, although only one space has been cleared out. However, agents say that negotiations are underway for new tenants for both properties.

Fresh restaurant, located at the Highlands Village Center in The Hills section of Basking Ridge, has not been open since the end of 2012.

"We are in discussions with a couple of restaurants to take over the space but want a theme that is a good mix with the other tenants and with the local area," Peter Wisniewski, executive vice president and principal for Coldwell Banker Commercial, Feist & Feist Realty Corp., said on Thursday morning.

Wisniewski, who said the firm is leasing agent for the Village Highlands property on behalf of the KRE Group in Bridgewater, said a martial arts school soon will be opening soon in part of the former McGrath's Hardware store. "We are in discussions with another use for the balance," he added.

Furniture and other decor has remained at Fresh into the new year. However, the phone number for the restaurant, which was green certified and served many organic foods, has been disconnected.

The decor and traces of Doon Indian Valley, 937 S. Finley Ave. at the Lyons Mall in Basking Ridge, already have been removed as of late February.

The restaurant closed in early February, said a spokesperson for Mark Property Management of Mountain Lake, the management company for the property. The spokesperson said at the beginning of March that more information could be available on the next tenant in the next few weeks.

The Lyons Mall is desperately in need of one thing.....a LIQUOR STORE. The closest one in the are is either in Stirling or down in the mall by exit 36 off 287.

Gary's in Bernardsville couldn't be more then 3-4 miles from Lyons Mall. Great selection, great hours, good prices. What we need in Basking Ridge is a great bakery.

Basking Ridge is desperately in need of a good Mexican restaurant, or any other ethnic restaurant!
