Not your usual "pretty in pink" crowd: Ridge's Evan Regan (74) goes head-to-head with Plainfield's 295-pound Dawel Bencosme (73) to open a hole in a game that went to Ridge.

It doesn't seem to hurt the toughness of either the Ridge High School Red Devils or Bernards High Mountaineers to be adding a touch of pink either to their getup on the field and for their fans in the stands.

Both teams are undefeated, and both are heading out for away games on Friday night, to begin at 7 p.m. And both have added a little pink to their gridiron performances in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Cheerleaders for both teams also have added some pink to their outfits during the last month.

Ridge travels to Cranford on Friday night, following last Saturday's 31-14 victory over Plainfield, clinching the Mid-State 38 Conference's Watchung Division title.

The following Friday, Oct. 26, will be Ridge football's "pinkout night" in support of breast cancer awareness month in a home game against Hunterdon Central.

Bernards High already had its night in pink, drawing an overwhelming show of support from fans during a 42-3 wipeout of New Providence on Oct. 5. The team secured its 2012 Mid State 38 Union Division Championship that night.

The team then headed into a 36-7 homecoming night win over Roselle Park last Friday night.

Next up is this Friday's away game at Bound Brook High School.
