Next Tuesday, residents will have an opportunity to vote for two members of the Township Committee, the local governing body.

The ballot will list two Republicans who are already in office: Deputy Mayor Mary Pavlini and Township Committeeman John Carpenter.

Local voters can also pull the lever to vote for one or both Democratic candidates; challengers Bonnie Diehl and Michael Komondy.

On Friday, we caught up with township resident Jennifer Vogel. She said that she feels an issue that should be addressed by the township is, "I am in favor of protecting resources and properly replanting trees that were lost in our most recent storm."

Previously, on Monday, the Basking Ridge Patch asked residents of Bernards Township what issues concern them regarding the upcoming election.

Jill DeGennaro, in our Tuesday video, says she is concerned about having attention paid to the township's senior citizens. She said that as of Monday her parents, who live in Fellowship Village, had been without heat for days. 

Mayor John Malay said he had believed that the facility was on generators. A spokeswoman at Fellowship Village said the health center and most of the building had heat and electricity, but some residents were without heat. Patch will update that story as more information is available.

As of Tuesday afternoon, most of Fellowship Village reportedly had power and places were being offered for those residents without heat to either spend the day, or to go for the night, said Mary Meier, director of community relations for Fellowship Village.
