Will We Get More of This in Thursday Storm?

Thunderstorms, possibly strong, and some more hail stones, are predicted for the Basking Ridge area for Thursday night.

The National Weather Service is predicting that some of the showers and thunderstorms expected to hit the Basking Ridge area Thursday evening could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning.

The storms, already beginning shortly after 7 p.m., were predicted to run their course mainly by about 10 p.m.

The temperature is expected to drop to the low 70s, with a chance of precipitation set at 80 percent. The weather service was predicting rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible throughout the rest of Thursday.

Hail hit part of the township on Monday

Large hailstones already hit The Hills late during a heavy downpour on Monday afternoon, and also were reported at Society Hill in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township.
