Just about everyone I know is back in “work-out” mode. The parking lot at the gym was so crowded the other day you would have thought you were at the shopping mall on Christmas Eve; anxious exercisers cruised the lanes waiting for someone to pull out so they could quickly grab the spot.
This week, several township fitness programs will commence with opportunities to burn calories, stretch, tone and flex. The Department of Parks and Recreation is offering Yoga classes at varying levels, open gym basketball at William Annin Middle School for ages 30 and above and an aerobic fitness program for ages 40 plus. Advance registration is required and several classes have sold out, so call first thing Monday morning to see what is still available.
For Seniors, the Somerset County Senior Wellness Center is offering exercise classes on Monday and Thursdays and Zumba (that fun, Latin-based dance form) on Wednesday.
If you are more inclined for outdoor acitivities, throw on the long underwear and head to the town parks for cross county skiing, snowshowing or maybe just a walk on the Lord Stirling horse trails in the snow with your pup.
After all that exercising by week's end, enjoy some live, local musical entertainment: the Trilogy Repertory Company will presenting a musical cabaret, "It’s Our Time.” Last year it was Standing Room Only, so plan ahead!
