Your Chance to Vote and Audition for 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

Ridge High School gymnastics team will also hold a yard sale this week.

 

As we FINALLY start enjoying warmer weather this week, there are a few, out-of-the-ordinary events to keep on your radar screen.

No. 1 is to vote this week in the election for three new Board of Education members and the school budget. Polls will be open Wednesday between 2 and 9 p.m. If your are not sure where to vote, check with the township to determine which district is yours, and see the following for the polling locations.

  • Ridge Oak Senior Housing—District 3
  • Bernards Township Library—Districts 1 and 6
  • Basking Ridge Firehouse—Districts 2 and 7
  • Liberty Corner Firehouse—Districts 12 and 14
  • Fellowship Village—Districts 16 and 20
  • Hills Recreation Center—Districts 4, 21, 22, 23 and 24
  • Bernards Township Community Center—Districts 9, 10 and 17
  • Society Hill at Bernards II Clubhouse—Districts 13 and 18
  • Somerset Hills Lutheran Church—Districts 5 and 8 
  • Spring Ridge Clubhouse—Districts 11, 15 and 19 
    Note: the District 4 polling location has changed from Basking Ridge Firehouse to Hills Recreation Center. 

On Thursday evening, the Trilogy Repetory Co. will start holding auditions for “A Midsummer Night's Dream." This week’s auditions are just for adults. Subsequent auditions will be held for children as well as adults.

On Saturday, if you are looking to either sell some unneeded items or pick up some “hand-me-downs” the Ridge High School gymnastics teams has organized a community yard sale at the high School.

  • School Board Elections—Bernards polling locations, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Toddler Time (16-30 months)—Bernards Township Library, 9:30 to 10 a.m and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Interactive story time for 16-30 month olds accompanied by an adult.  Child's birthday should come between 7/1/08 and 9/1/09. Registration required. Program room A.
  • Preschool Story Time 3 1/2 - 5 years old—Bernards Township Library, 1 to 1:30 p.m., and 2 to 2:30 p.m. Stories, fingerplays and songs for 3  1/2  - 5 year olds. Child's birthday should come before 7/1/07. Registration required. Program room A
  • Zumba Gold for Seniors—Somerset County Senior Wellness Center, every Wednesday 1 to 2 p.m. For seniors, free of charge. Registration required.
  • Animal Record Holders—Lord Stirling Environmental Education Center, ages 3-5 with parent, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fee is $10. 

Thursday

  • Baby Time (Birth - 15 Months)—Bernards Township Library, 9:30 to 10 a.m. Songs, rhymes and stories. No registration required. Siblings are welcome too. Program room A.
  • Tot Time Ages 2 1/2-3 1/2 years—Bernards Township Library, 10:30 to 11 a.m. Stories, rhymes and songs for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 year olds accompanied by an adult. Child's birthdate should come between 7/1/07 and 7/2/08. Registration required. Program room A.
  • Film series: Cherry Blossoms—Bernards Township Library, noon to 3 p.m. Dr. Kalyan Ray, professor of English at County College of Morris, will offer commentary on returning or finding one's home. Feel free to bring a snack or lunch. Program room B.
  • Senior Flex Class—Somerset County Senior Wellness Center, 10:30 a.m. For seniors, free of charge.
  • Auditions for “A Midsummer’s Night Dream”—Pleasant Valley Park Warming Hut, (near the tennis courts), 7 to 9 p.m. Trilogy Repetory Company is holding adult auditions. “A Midsummer Night's Dream” will be part of the Plays in the Park series, July 29 and 30 and Aug. 4, 5 and 6 in Pleasant Valley Park.

Friday

  • Tot Time Ages 2 1/2-3 1/2 years—Bernards Township Library 9:30 to 10 a.m. and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Stories, rhymes and songs for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 year olds accompanied by an adult. Child's birthdate should come between 7/1/07 and 7/2/08. Registration required. Program room A.
  • Tot Trek—Lord Stirling Environmental Education Center, ages 0-3 with parent, 10:30 to 11 a.m. Fee is $10.
  • Art Series with Dr. Barbara Tomlinson—Bernards Township Library, 10:30 a.m. to noon. A four-week series. “Images on Paper.” $25 per resident or $45 for non-residents.
  • Friday Night at the Opera—Bernards Township Library, 7:30 to 9 p.m., With Dr. Robert W. Butts, Verdi’s  Ernani, Adults $25 for the series or $5 at the door.  

Saturday

  • Attention: Star Wars Fans: Star Wars Day at the Library—Bernards Township Library, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Put on your Star Wars gear, if you like, and come to the library to meet some characters from the movies, play trivia and make a craft. Bring your camera to take some pictures. No registration required. Progam room.
  • Mega Yard Sale—Ridge High School, Car Park ‘B’ in front of the school. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Be a buyer or a seller. Fundraiser for the Ridge High gymnastics team. Car wash while your are there.   • Alive at the EEC—Lord Stirling Environmental Education Center, 1 to 4 p.m. Ages 10-13. $18.
  • Dog Walks on the Equestrian Trails—Lord Stirling Stable, 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. sign-in. Walk is from 10:30 to 11:30 a..m. $3 per dog, humans free.
