Thank goodness. Midterms are over. I am not far removed from high school and college, and clearly remember the physical and mental toll that studying had on my body. I can remember running to the library to find a private nook or cranny, throwing my sweatshirt and IPod on the table and preparing for an eight-hour day of alternating between studying and five minute power naps. It was important to strategically plan which floor would be closest to the coffee hut and furthest away from windows; that way I would be full of coffee and less inclined to want to play Frisbee with everybody else.
Now that it’s all over, I must admit, I miss the chaos and shenanigans that midterms and finals provided. There was almost a sense of unity testing had on an entire group of people. I think the saying “misery loves company” is 100 percent accurate, as stress turned normal students into an entire campus of zombies slinking around looking for rest and energy. We complained together, studied together, ate together, deliriously laughed together, and tested together. Oh, and celebrated together!
Did anybody pull an all-nighter? Have any studying strategies? Any funny stories to tell? Here at the Y, I’ve noticed an increase of high school students working out in the early afternoon. I guess they’re trying to shake off the stress! Although midterms are overly stressful, it’s important to keep your eye on the end goal of receiving a good education and setting yourself up for future success, however, I’m sure your immediate future is being spent face down in your bed for two or three days. Sleep well guys!
Spread good vibes,
Abbey

Undoubtedly, I would welcome 6 midterms for the chance to have all-nighters in the Scranton library again, complete with friends, 2:00am youtube study breaks and iced white mochas. Try my good vibe jam: Shake It out, by Florence + The Machine..."there's always darkness before the DAWN." Abbey, consider the good vibes spread :)

Abbey, I think it's great that you're seeing students working out in the afternoon during midterms. That's the best way to relieve stress, stimulate endorphins, clear one's head, and stay healthy during exams. My son and niece, who are college students, do the same at their college gyms during high pressure times. This generation can teach us something in this area!
