Names in the News looks at local residents who have done something worth talking about.Steve Cozine, 44, of Basking Ridge competed and finished first overall at One More Tri, a triathlon/duathlon/aquavelo fundraiser for Special Olympics New Jersey held last Sunday in Asbury Park. Cozine was the only finisher to come in under one hour in the full triathlon, which consisted of a 0.25-mile ocean swim, followed by a 12-mile bike and then a three-mile run. His finish time was 59:09.0, according to an announcement from Special Olympics. The family and friends of Harry Bush, former Ridge High School teacher and football coach, gathered Saturday afternoon at the Olde Mill Inn to remember the man they knew and loved. Bush, who was a teacher and coach at Ridge from 1965 to 1988, died last month at the age of 87. The speakers on Saturday included Bush's children, teachers and coaches, and a few players. There was a strong expression of love, respect and the knowing that they were better for having had him in their lives. Retiring Schools Superintendent in Bernards Township, Valerie Goger, remains busy this week with such duties as completing end-of-year school reports. Even so, following thirteen and a half years in the Bernards school district's top administrative position, Goger already has been wrapping things up since seemingly out of the blue announcing her retirement plans last October. Lorraine Sciara, RN, of Basking Ridge, who is President and Chief Executive Officer of Barnabas Health Hospice and Palliative Care Centers (BHHPCC), recently was last week awarded the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award, the second such award ever granted by the New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NJHPCO). Each year the NJHPCO presents awards to recognize outstanding hospice professionals as role models for their counterparts statewide. Bernards Township artist Serena Bocchino opened her new exhibit, FEVER, with a reception on Saturday evening at the Simon Gallery in Morristown. The exhibit will continue through Saturday, June 30. The wine-and-refreshments reception on Saturday was open to the public. Bocchino was on hand to greet guests who came to view her jazz-inspired work in visions of vibrant red, gold, and graphite grey, with some other accents, on the primarily enamel and graphite canvases. Nine Basking Ridge Girl Scouts recently earned their Gold Award, the highest award bestowed on a Girl Scout, and celebrated their achievements by participating during April in a Martha Stewart Show recognizing the Girl Scouts' 100th anniversary this year. The nine Ambassador Scouts all earned their Gold Awards for projects completed within the past year, said Colleen Pine, who along with Huiling Kuo, leads Troop No. 60040. The scouts, all juniors, were students at Ridge High School when they earned their awards although one, Kimberlee Lizakowski, has since moved out of state, Pine said. The …
Basking Ridge resident David Wolfe, a member of Skoloff & Wolfe law firm in Livingston, has been named "Young Lawyer of the Year" by the N.J. State Bar Association, and is scheduled to receive the award in Atlantic City next Thursday. Wolfe, who has lived in Basking Ridge for four years with his wife, Dominique, and two daughters, is a member in the firm founded by his father, Saul Wolfe. This week, he said he believes he received the award — a top honor awarded to an attorney from among thousands of New Jersey lawyers age 36 or younger — because he had served as the Chairman of the American …
