Collection of Donated Books for Popular Book Sale Continues Tuesday

A travelogue about a trip to Sicily to find relatives at Senior Wellness Center in Basking Ridge.

Tuesday is the second day of five days of collections of donations for one of the region's top book sales — as presented each August by the Somerset Hills chapter of the American Association of University Women.

The collection of books and DVDs and CDs began Monday, and will continue through Thursday, as well as next Monday, Aug. 5. July 29 through August. Collections will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on those days.

Book sale organizers say students still are needed for shifts of two to six hours each day for collections at the Bernardsville Middle School off Seney Drive in Bernardsville. There is no air conditioning.

Students and other volunteers would be asked to receive bags of books at the loading dock; sort and set up books on tables, and later pack up unsold books.

Volunteers of all ages also are still needed for the sale itself. The actual sale itself this year is from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 and Friday, Aug. 9, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. The sale benefits the AAUW's scholarships program, local libraries and other charities.
