BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonder of nature as winter begins to wind down in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

CHILDREN & TEEN PROGRAMS

 

Young Explorers Club

            Mondays, March 3, 10, 17, and 24 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Children age infant to 5 with a parent will experience the wonders of

            nature through outdoor activities to stimulate the five senses.

            Fee is $30 per pair and $15 per additional child for the 4-day session.

KinderNats

            Mondays, March 3, 10, 17, and 24 from 4:15 P.M. to 5:15 P.M.

Children ages 5 to 7, who are enrolled in kindergarten and first grade will

            study science and explore the natural world through games,

            Naturalist-led activities, and more.

            Fee is $24 per person for the 4-day session.

Turtle Time

            Friday, March 7 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Children age infant to 5 with a parent will learn about turtles while they

            sleep away the winter months.

            Fee is $10 per pair & $5 per additional child.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

 

Forest Fitness

            Thursdays, March 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.

Adults are invited to join a Naturalist-led weekly walking group, enjoying

            nature along the level trails of Lord Stirling Park.

            Fee is $20 for the 4-day session.

Natural Spa

            Saturday, March 8 from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

            Family and friends age 9 years and older (with a parent) will learn how to make various

                        spa treatments at home from ingredients found around the house

                        and how to protect skin from the elements.

            Fee is $16 per person.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch

Park in Bridgewater.  The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
