HEALTHY FOREST HIKE: APSHAWA PRESERVE – SEPT 28

Learn about forest health on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Ingrid Vandegaer, New Jersey Conservation Foundation’s Highlands regional manager, will lead hikers through a mountainous Highlands landscape of forests, streams and rock outcroppings to a scenic reservoir below.

The pace of the hike will be moderate, although the terrain is challenging. As part of the “Healthy Forest Hike,” participants will learn about the role of a three-mile deer “exclosure” fence in promoting healthier, more diverse plant life at the 576-acre preserve.
