New Program Provides Much-Needed Substance Abuse & Behavioral Health Services to Somerset County

Much has happened with the “heroin epidemic” since February 22nd, when activists held a seminar in Camden, NJ to show how to administer an overdose antidote medication called Narcon. Since then, all of New Jersey has seemingly discovered the scourge of increasingly available, increasingly strong heroin.  Governor Chris Christie joined the battle on April 2nd with the announcement of a state-sponsored Narcon pilot program in Ocean and Monmouth counties, a part of the state where overdose deaths have been especially numerous (in 2012, the NJ’s drug-related deaths rose to 1,294 from 1,026 in 2011). There is now another tool in the fight against substance abuse in NJ, Arcadia Wellness, a provider of top quality substance abuse and mental health services, which has officially opened its doors in Somerset, NJ.

“Arcadia Wellness is a direct response to the need we’re observing in the community and an important addition to the range of mental health and substance abuse services available to Somerset County residents,” said Andre Mitchell, CEO of Arcadia Wellness. “With daily reports about New Jersey’s escalating heroin epidemic and increasing overdose deaths, the timing of our grand opening couldn’t be more opportune or imperative.  We know that treatment works and our highly experienced staff strives to meet the needs of our clients and their families during their time of crisis in a compassionate, caring and professional environment.”
