Car Fire Heats Up Route 287 in Basking Ridge

Think you have a hard time staying cool in this heat. The Basking Ridge Fire Co. and First Aid Squad's volunteers responded to a car fire on Route 287 that backed up traffic on a Sunday afternoon, but left the car's occupants time to escape uninjured.

The Somerset Hills YMCA reported that this year's Flag Day 5K and walk raised more than $55,000 for housing and another program to serve the area's homeless veterans. Donations still are being accepted through July 15.
