After All the Preparations, Passover Begins Monday Night

Area Jewish centers prepare, scheduled services and Seders, for eight-day holiday of Passover.

The first evening of Passover, the eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the Israelite's escape from slavery in Egypt, begins on Monday.

This year, the Chabad center again held a kosher wine tasting (on April 7), not only to provide further exposure to the variety of kosher wines, but to give the public a chance to purchase wine for the Seder table, an important element of the Passover feast.

Last Monday, children at Chabad's also participating in making matzo from scratch. They first separated and ground wheat seeds before rolling the thin flat pieces of dough to create Passover's traditional unleavened bread.

Parents joined the preschoolers to help create a festive morning, singing songs and enjoying symbolic foods associated with the holiday.
