Bernards Health Department to Hold Monthly Immunization Clinics For Children Without Health Insurance

Monthly clinics to be held on second Tuesday of each month for children up to age 18 living in the department's member towns.

The will begin holding a free immunization clinic on the second Tuesday of most months for children who are not covered by health insurance. Children are eligible from birth through age 18 who are living in the department's member towns, which includes Bernards, Bernardsville, Long Hill Township, Peapack and Gladstone Borough and others.

The no-cost clinic was created to ensure that children receive appropriate vaccinations in a timely manner, according to a news release from the department. The vaccines will be presented in cooperation with the , also located in Basking Ridge at 200 Mount Airy Road.

The program, the 2011 Child Health Conference, is part of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Service, the release said. The goal is to eliminate vaccine-preventable disease in children.

The Child Health Conference is scheduled to be held on the second Tuesday of each month except for July when it scheduled on the third Tuesday.

Children and adolescents from birth up to 18 years old who live in Bernards Township, Bernardsville Borough, Chester Borough, Long Hill Township, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township, Peapack and Gladstone Borough are eligible, the health department said.

Residents who are interested in this program for their children should phone the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills at 908-766-0180 for an appointment, or call the Bernards Township Health Department at 908-204-2520 for further information.
