The Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce Summer Networking Event Honors Local RHS Senior With Scholarship & Welcomes Special Guest Speaker Hunterdon County Prosecutor, Anthony Kearns, esq. this Wednesday.

Special Guest Speaker to speak to members. Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, esq. will be in attendance to talk about his many successful programs and the ongoing efforts to battle all types of crime.

Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III was appointed by NJ Governor Chris Christie to be the Hunterdon County Prosecutor on December 3, 2010 after being unanimously confirmed by the New Jersey Senate. Prosecutor Kearns oversees an office consisting of a Bureau of Criminal Investigation, legal department and administrative staff. He coordinates the law enforcement efforts of 26 municipalities with 15 local police departments, the Sheriff's office and the State Police within Hunterdon County.

Prosecutor Kearns is responsible for issuing directives, standardizing law enforcement conduct and for implementing all directives from the Attorney General. He also coordinates and works with the various human service agencies and other governmental agencies with regard to any law enforcement issues and the needs of its communities.

Prosecutor Kearns graduated, Cum Laude, from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts in 1998 and earned a Juris Doctor. Previously, he earned a Master of Science Degree in Counseling from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland in 1992. Prior to that he graduated, Cum Laude, with a double major in Psychology and Spanish from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, in 1989.

Prosecutor Kearns distinguished himself as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey from 1999 to 2002. As Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Kearns served as prosecutor for the Division of Consumer Affairs and focused on professional board matters. He also prosecuted cases for the Division of Youth and Family Services.

In 2002, Mr. Kearns became associated with the law firm of Rylak and Gianos and was elevated to partner in 2005. The firm was later renamed Rylak, Gianos, Kearns and Phillips. In private practice, he focused on Criminal, Family, and Land Use Law. He is a trained mediator and has been certified as a collaborative law attorney. He served as attorney for multiple municipalities throughout the county.

Prosecutor Kearns served as the President of the Hunterdon County Bar Association. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and serves on the special committee for Drug and Alcohol Abuse. He is a past president of the Rotary Club of Whitehouse. Mr. Kearns served on the Executive Boards of the Hunterdon Huskies Pop Warner Football program and the North Hunterdon Little League. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Center of Educational Advancement. Mr. Kearns is currently the Vice-President of the Immaculate Conception School Advisory Committee.

Prosecutor Kearns is trained as a family, adolescent and individual therapist. He is also trained as a substance abuse therapist and has counseled both men and women ensnared in the cycle of domestic violence.

Through Prosecutor Kearns's experience as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney and his clinical experience in the fields of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, he has gained a unique perspective which assists him in fulfilling the mission of his office and that is one of justice.

Prosecutor Kearns is married and lives in Hunterdon County with his wife and four children.
