Dig out your platform shoes and gold necklaces: Friday's '70s party at in Warren Township promises to be more fun than Kool and the Gang at Studio 54.
The event will help push Warren Township's effort to raise $100,000 for The Valerie Fund into June, and will include lots of retro-styled fun, a raffle for a new BBQ grill, and some teasing costume contests.
The fund has supported many area children with cancer,
that the family said was a comfort when they were scared and confused following their son's diagnosis with a form of leukemia.
Tickets for the event are $50, and can be purchased at the restaurant, or reserved by emailing Jane Noble.
Music will be provided by Mr. Lovejoy, a Denville-based band capable of covering the range of music from the '70s, from the Allman Brothers to KC and the Sunshine Band.
"They even dress up like the bad '70s outfits," Noble said (and when she says "bad," that means "good" in '70s-speak).
Noble said she's hoping attendees will forget about the last 35 or 40 years and don their best—or worst—'70s attire, from Afro-wigs to leisure suits, it's all...bad.
"The most hideous shirt you can find will be perfect," she said.
There may be prizes for best outfits, but there will definitely be one lucky winner who will receive a new barbeque grill, valued at $600, courtesy of .
The restaurant will be closed for business Friday, with the special event taking over the facility.
