Greater Somerset County Red Cross Could Open Shelters in Some Towns

Shelters could open near county's most flood-prone areas.

The Greater Somerset County Chapter of the American Red Cross is encourages people to take the necessary steps to shelter themselves in their homes with enough water, food, flashlight/batteries, portable radio and medication for at least three days.

Should the need arise, the American Red Cross will be opening shelters for residents who were evacuated because of flooding from this weekend’s storm in the following locations as of Saturday:

  • ·        Bound Brook High School, 111 West Union Avenue, Bound Brook, 08805, potentially starting after 4 p.m.
  • ·        Manville VFW, 600 Washington Avenue, Manville, 08835 at 8 p.m.
  • ·        Raritan Valley Community College, 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg, 08876 at 5 p.m.
