Hot Jazz to Melt the Cold

Concert featuring Rio Clemente one option for your downtime this weekend.

Winter decided to bite back this week, even though the calendar said it was spring. So, why not fight the cold with some hot jazz this weekend? A concert featuring Rio Clemente leads our list.

1. An Evening of Red Hot Jazz
Where/When: The Center for Contemporary Art (Bedminster); Friday, 7:30-10:30 p.m.
Why Go: The event features live performances by the Rio Clemente Quartet and the Vincent Troyani Trio. Guests will also be able to enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres, a display of original jazz-themed artworks, caricaturist, silent auction, and door prizes. All proceeds benefit education and exhibition programs at The Center for Contemporary Art.

2.  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Where/When: Somerset Valley Theatre; Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m.
Why Go: A production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's show will be presented by the Somerset Valley Players, so you can see a hit nearby.
Pricing: $20 for adult, $18 for seniors and students

3. Spring Fever Hay Ride
Where/When: ; Saturday, 6 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy a tractor-pulled hayride along the equestrian trail. The wagon will stop along the way for hot chocolate and s'mores at a campfire site.

4. Parkinson's Unity Walk Benefit Day
Where/When:
(Bridgewater); Friday, 6 a.m.-11 p.m.
Why Go: Mention the cause to your server on this day during any meal, and you'll have 20 percent of your total bill before tax donated to Parkinson's disease research. You need to eat anyway, so why not help out a good cause while doing so?

5. CorbinDances
Where/When: (Branchburg); Saturday, 8 p.m.
Why Go: Patrick Corbin, one of dance's most celebrated artists after 15 years of experience, will be sure to please enthusiasts.
