Many Events Called Off For This Weekend

Continuing lack of power, road blockages, delay scheduled events.

Many long-scheduled events are called off for this weekend in the aftermath of the area's slow recovery after Hurricane Sandy.

  • The Taste of the Hills scheduled for Sunday evening at the Basking Ridge Country Club, a benefit for the Adult Day Center at the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills, has been canceled for now. "We are focusing all efforts on servicing our patients and assisting wherever possible with emergency health care needs in the community. Since ensuring the health and safety of homebound patients is critical prior to, during, and after a storm, our entire team — including staff from every department — has been mobilized as part of our emergency operations. In addition to the headquarters building in Basking Ridge, we've been in working in teams from satellite locations to manage all the complex communication, transportation, safety and other issues," said VNA spokeswoman Paula Some.
  • The Field of Honor ceremony scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the municipal complex also is canceled, but will be rescheduled if possible.  "Our hope it to still run this event for our honorees, families and residents of Bernards and surrounding area in the near future. Information regarding the event and updates on the schedule will be posted on the Bernards Township website.
  • Two Saturday events, Run for the Hoses, a benefit for the Bernardsville Fire Co. and Full Access 2012, the annual arts program at the Matheny Medical and Educational Center in Peapack, also were called off. Organizers for Run for the Hoses said that rescheduling information will be available. Matheny also may reschedule its annual program.
  • Please let everyone know in the comments section below if your event has been canceled or post rescheduling information.
